Currency

Currency is used purchase items or upgrades from vendors. There are two types of currency: Gold and Aether Crystals.

Gold

Gold is used to buy items from the Merchant. It can also be used to cleanse Corruption from all monsters in the party at Blessed Ponds. Gold only lasts for a single run. The player starts each run with 0 Gold, but the starting amount can be increased by purchasing an upgrade from Gustavo.

Acquisition:

• Destroying boxes during exploration
• Refusing Sir Tiberion's offer during exploration - 15 Gold
• Refusing Alioth's offer during exploration - 15 Gold
• Winning a battle - 5 Gold
• Scraping and replacing equipment - Varies by the equipment tier
• Loot drops:
  • Common loot drops (5% chance) - 5 Gold
  • Rare loot drops (5% chance) - 15 Gold
  • Epic loot drops (20% chance) - 30 Gold

Aether Crystals

Aether Crystals are used to buy upgrades from various vendors in Pilgrim's Rest, beneficial for future runs. Unlike Gold, Aether Crystals persist between runs and are not reset.

Acquisition:

• Approaching Aether Crytals during exploration
• Increasing a monster's Worthiness (currently up to Worthiness III) - 50 Aether Crystals
• Defeating a Champion monster - 30 Aether Crystals
• Loot drops:
  • Common loot drops (5% chance) - 25 Aether Crystals
  • Rare loot drops (5% chance) - 100 Aether Crystals
