As is known, Void is the ever-destroying, ever-changing, ever-creating substance of the universe. A manifestation of entropy.

Void materializes when a body of enormous amounts of Aether dies - such as a star.
Nobody knows, then, why an unprecedent amount of Void would appear on Terastae, at the Fractured Ruins of all places.
In my brief time here, I have come to two conclusions regarding the massive Void phenomenon.
One, it is growing. At a slow, but steady, inevitable place. Which means it will eventually devour all of Terastae. Theoretically speaking.
Two, its central point is at the center of the former holy city Vigil, beyond the Fractured Ruins.
So if there is a point of origin to the massive Void phenomenon, that is it.

A view of the Void from Pilgrim's Rest

The Void, also known as the encroaching danger of the Void, is the main conflict in Aethermancer.

As soon as the Aethermancer arrives at Pilgrim's Rest, another one of its kind, Alioth, tells the protagonist they were sent to study the Void and tells the protagonist a basic explanation of what is the void. He says the origin of the Void that can be seen is in Vigil, the Holy City, beyond the ruins of Terastae.

Corruption

Corruption is mentioned to be related to the Void by Lily in her old dialogues. Whenever she was doing something related to corruption (wether it is cleaning it or making your monsters consume it), she mentions the encroaching danger. When asking for her to clean corruption, she talks about an "anti-Void potion".
