Areas are all the places where the game takes place, no matter the size and if there's any combat on it or not. Those can be divided in main areas, where the players spends more of the time in the runs, it has combats and NPCs you can interact with to get some help, and minor areas, more calm and peaceful areas that serve an specific purpose during the runs and outside it. In order to leave a main area, you need to defeat a Champion Monster first.

Minor areas

  • Pilgrim's Rest - a town with a few inhabitants. It is the first area you see in the game. It has friendly NPCs that you can talk to and will help you to progress in the game during the runs.
  • Rest Site - a small grassy place similar to Pilgrimage Path you can found in between areas during a run. You can talk to the merchant, eat a monster meal and use a monster shrine before progressing to the next area.

Main areas

  • Pilgrimage Path - a grassy forest with crystals, stone pillars, lakes, stone paths and yellow grass. It is the first main area in the game.

Content present in this page is mostly speculation done by the community from what was shown from the game so far.

These areas were not shown officially. Their names and descriptions were revealed by Steven Melin in his composing livestreams. Since the game is still in development, these areas might go through big changes or even be scrapped entirely.

  • Forbidden Fortress - this is the area with the most information revealed. It is described as an underground place, like a basement, with candles, potions and rituals going on. Moi rai made two separate twitter posts with sketches of this area, without naming it directly. During the Monster Reveal Week, the announcement of the four monsters (Dark Elder, Gargoyle, Kullervo and Star Spawn) started with the words "from the shadows of a forbidden fortress".
  • Alchemical Woods - it is called a "tier 1 area", similar to Pilgrimage Path. Some areas like Alchemical Woods would be unlockable. In the case of this particular area, the player would have the choice of going through it or Pilgrimage Path when starting a new run. Described as a "whimsical journey through an enchanted forest you have never been to before".
  • Garden District - this area is mentioned to be a repurposing of an old, scrapped area called "Temple District". It is implied to appear later in the game. Described as a "temple but with beautiful waterfalls and an Aztec feeling".
  • Underground Cistern - this area appeared in three composing livestreams, but one of them was removed. It is mentioned to be a "tier 2 unlockable area", just like Alchemical Woods, with that being a "tier 1" instead. Also mentioned to be in the same level as Forbidden Fortress. This area is described to have a feeling of "calm, majestic and mysterious with slight hints of danger and eerieness". Another description depicts the area as "more like an underground temple rather than a purely utility-based structure", also having adornments, statues and grand rooms and pools and to be abandoned for hundreds of years.
