Origin

The Nāga is a mythical creature originating from Hindu and Buddhist mythology, prevalent across South and Southeast Asia. It is typically portrayed as either entirely human with serpents on their heads and necks, or as serpentine beings with human or semi-divine traits. Nāgas are believed to inhabit underground realms, bodies of water, or reside in trees. In Hindu mythology, they are often associated with fertility, water, and protection of treasures. In Buddhist tradition, they are considered guardians of the Buddha and his teachings.
