• Samebito was originally revealed as "Shaaku" (romanized Japanese word, meaning shark) but the dev team decided to go back to its original inspiration.
• One of Samebito's older sprites, known as Samebito the Wise, has become a meme in the community. Each day, a piece of wisdom is posted on the Discord channel by a member using the Imposter of the Vent meme format.
  • The sprite appears as an easter egg in one of the portraits in the Forbidden Fortress.
• Samebito was first revealed in the Aethermancer trailer on March 9th, 2023, confirming it as one of the monsters in the roster, alongside ten others.
  • Since Samebito was never teased prior to the game's reveal, this makes Samebito the ninth officially revealed monster, alongside Grimoire and Ooze.

Origin

Samebito draws inspiration from the Samebito and its story. The Samebito is a sea creature or yōkai from Japanese folklore, having the appearance of a being that is half-human and half-shark.
