Trivia

  • The community often refers to Mandragora as "Mandy".
  • Mandragora was one of the thirteen monsters available in the Closed Alpha, having been included from the beginning along with Ooze, Orthrus, Star Spawn, Tatzelwurm, Warden, Wolpertinger, and Wyrmling. The other monsters included Cherufe, Domovoy, Gargoyle, Jotunn, and Nosferatu.
  • Mandragora was first teased on January 16th, 2023, as part of the first week of Monster Mythology Monday.
    • This makes Mandragora the first monster to have been revealed/teased.
    • Mandragora was officially confirmed as one of the monsters in the roster during the game's reveal on March 9th, 2023, alongside ten other monsters.

Origin

The Mandragora, commonly known as the Mandrake, is a mythical plant steeped in folklore and mythology across various cultures, including European and Middle Eastern traditions. It is depicted as a plant with a human-like root system resembling a small person. According to legend, Mandrakes were believed to scream when uprooted, which was thought to cause death or madness to those who heard it. The roots were also considered powerful ingredients in alchemy and witchcraft due to their perceived mystical properties, such as healing and fertility enhancement.
